Revver Content on Verizon’s V Cast

Published in Internet, Mobile, Mobile Applications, Movies, Music by Aditi Tuteja

revver.jpgVerizon Wireless announced a distribution deal with YouTube and also with another popular video sharing website Revver to stream limited content over its V Cast service. What makes this deal particularly interesting is the fact that through Revver’s signature revenue sharing system, content creators have the opportunity to make money from having their videos available on V Cast.

At the end of user uploaded videos, Revver inserts a short advertisement, with Revver splitting any profit made from the ad 50/50 with the video’s creator. This system will extend to videos viewed from a mobile handset over the Verizon Wireless V Cast service, though instead of adding an advertisement, Revver will split the fee Verizon pays for the video with the creator.

Similar to Verizon’s YouTube deal, video content will be included with the user’s usual V Cast subscription, with no additional purchase necessary. Starting early December, Revver will make some of the most popular content across its Editor’s Picks, Viral Video Classics, Extreme Sports, Laughs, Animation, and Cute Overdose categories available on V Cast. Unlike the YouTube deal, Verizon Wireless will have a period of exclusivity as the US mobile distribution partner for Revver.
