Vodafone’s sponsorship of the McLaren Mercedes Formula 1 team for 2007, the network operator has announced three special edition handsets featuring a great looking chrome silver and ‘rocket’ red color scheme.
The three handsets cover the low, mid, and high end of the market, consisting of the Sharp GX29 and 770SH, as well as the Samsung SGH-z720m.

Targeting the budget end of the market, the Sharp GX29 includes a bright QVGA resolution color screen and 1.3 megapixel camera.

Moving up a level, the Sharp 770SH keeps the 1.3 megapixel camera and QVGA screen but adds 3G data and a front facing camera for video calling, as well as a microSD memory card slot for memory expansion. Catering for the tech-savvy customer, Samsung’s SGH-z720m boasts a 3.0 megapixel camera with auto focus and HSDPA high-speed data in an attractive slider design.

No information on whether the special edition McLaren Mercedes handsets will carry a price premium over the standard handsets is currently available, nor is a solid release date.
