Add image utility in context menu with XnView Shell extension

Published in Windows by sushaantu

Xnview is a utility for viewing and converting image files and there are many other applications which can do precisely the same thing. So what is the fuss about this particular software? Xnview Shell extension adds a range of image related tools in your right-click menu. It can add the following functionality:

  • It displays the thumbnail of the image in the right click context menu so you don’t need to put thumbnails view in all the folders.
  • It can also display the resolution of image along with its size and bpp (bits per pixel).
  • It also gives the option of converting the images into other image type like JPG, GIF, BMP, PCX, PNG, TIF and TGA.
  • Edit IPTC ( metadata which means you can organize your images more effectively.
  • Send images to Imageshack in one click. Imageshack is one of the largest image sharing site on web if you don’t know.

You can see this particular shell extension in action on Screencast and I think it will save you time in long run while I strongly recommend it to anyone who has a huge collection of images.

You can download the extension on this link and the download link is given under XnView Shell Extension Setup v2.40 (for windows explorer).
