Iphone 3G launch

To present you further excerpts from our live coverage of Apple 3G iphone directly from Gurgaon, India. The much awaited Apple 3G iphone had finally launched in India & the Airtel regional outlet in Gurgaon became the premier venue for this nation-wide event.

The place was jam packed with people where Apple freaks & journalists comprised the majority, all struggling out to take the first glance at Apple’s first 3G enabled as it gets launched in India.

The venue had long queues of iPhone lovers (including me) waiting outside since afternoon just for being the first ones to get their hands on the idol of innovation. iPhone love begins….

iPhone maker Apple has partnered with two major cellular service providers in India i.e Airtel & Vodaphone for the distribution of iPhones all around the country.

As the apple iPhone 3G got unveiled, the long queue of people gathered inside the Mall to waited for their turn to reach the counter and lay their hands on the beautiful and rightly hyped device. As our turn came, we were exhausted but still excited to grab the package of the all new apple saga in India.

Airtel had sold over 24 phones by then, we bought the 25th phone. Not many people were prefering white color model. And people majority had bought black 16GB Apple iphone. Airtel store has 100000 units of Apple iphone stock.

Airtel had plenty of volunteers giving demos, hand on experience and explaining each features to people while they were waiting and once after they had made the purchase. By the time we left the store, they had sold over 200 iphones. Sadly, they are not giving any regional pre installed goodies unlike Nokia N96.

Good news is that Team Realgeek managed to be inside the Airtel outlet located at the Sahara Mall, Gurgaon & entire venue was decked up like a bride, with red carpeting, DJs playing the geek-pro Trance music & they had a special iPhone 3G Crew, including plenty of gorgeous girls wearing iphone 3G t-shirts. Some interesting games and tricks were played with the spectators before it struck 12:00am.

With the crowd I saw there, I thought some of the people there are present just to get a peek of the celebrity doing the unveiling. Soon, I realized that iPhone was the only flossy celebrity that everyone wanted to catch a glimpse of.

Right at the zero hour, they blew fire crackers and confetti, whole crowd went hooting and whistling, it was a sight to remember.
Finally the countdown is over and Airtel has officially launched the first iPhone in India. Majority of the crowd which was present to purchase the new iPhone 3G were either business men, entrepreneurs, executives and also few students. And yea never the less people like us the bloggers.

Airtel had sold some 200 iphone units within the first hour of its official launch & to our surprise, the first person to buy the iphone in india was a pretty girl(appearing to be in her early twenties) who had been waiting outside the venue since 6 in the evening to get her favorite phone. As we proudly grabbed our iphone, Sushaantu got our pictures clicked, below you can see myself and Aditi with the Airtel iPhone 3G. Aditi also gave her geekiest response to CNN interviewers, despite of her already having a 16GB black iPhone, she is even thinking of grabbing a white color one. She did regretted not being able to have 3G access here yet, but Wi Fi makes up for it.

Apple has also given a cool geeky free Adidas T-Shirt in the package to all the customers who will buy the iPhone today, here is its picture.

The hustle and Bustle is gonna remain until morning, and for the coming weekend on all Airtel stores that will be retailing the Apple iPhone.
