Blackberry Storm 9500 Could Be The Next iPhone-Killer

Published in Blackberry by sushaantu

BlackBerry seems to be pretty adamant on bringing that one phone which can take on Apple iPhone. BlackBerry Storm 9500 could be that phone which is going to be launched on November 14. We don’t usually relate BlackBerry with touch screen smartphones but this one is real and has some juicy ingredients which can give goose-bumps to the so called iPhone killers if not the iPhone.

The salient features of BlackBerry Storm 9500 are a wide touch screen, 3G network, SureType and QWERTY input methods. It has a 3.25-inch display with a resolution of 360 x 480 pixels which is actually more than an iPhone. Apart from that it has quad-band GSM support, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, and a 3 megapixel auto focus camera.

BlackBerry Storm 9500 fares better than an iPhone in many respects if we compare the specs of the individual phones. Apple iPhone has a camera of 2 megapixel while this one has a 3.2 megapixel camera and the display screen of BlackBerry Storm 9500 is slightly better than an iPhone. BlackBerry also happens to have an upper hand because of its Push-Mail feature which is although available in iPhone under the aegis of MobileMe but the customers are not happy with it.

People in England can buy it from Vodafone while the lesser mortals who live elsewhere will have to wait a bit.

Unless something changed, the Verizon Wireless version of the Storm does not come with WiFi. The reason I was given is that there is a) little reason with 3G and b) not enough room in the device. I got to play with the device, and I think it will be quite popular. It takes a little while to get used to the SureType though.
