1x RAM?

Posted: 01-20-2009, 12:56 PM

I'm full of questions today!

My m/c has 4GB RAM fitted, but Vista reports 6GB. Can anyone explain
why?

Thanks

I'd recheck those memory stick labels.

My BIOS does report 4Gig. I was wondering whether Vista comes with
MS-DOS style 'Memdoubler'

Try running Memtest on boot up to see what that reports.

Where does Vista report 6GB? What does the System page
tell you? Also, run msinfo32, and see what what Installed
Physical Memory says. While there, look at the Total Virtual
Memory, to see if that's at the 6GB value you've seen.

Ok, so my BIOS reports 3.5GB (supposed to be 4GB! ...I've been done!
hardware RAM installed, confirmed by AIDA32. SYSTEM reports 6GB RAM
and this is was what was shown on the Welcome Screen when I first boote
Vista

*msinfo32*, while giving a whole host of other memories, says I hav
6GB of "Installed Physical Memory (RAM)". "Virtual Memory" it report
as 5.36GB

All this adds to my confusion. What is the difference betwee
*msinfo32*'s "Total Physical Memory" (3.50GB) and "Installed Physica
Memory (RAM)" (6.00GB)

!

Thanks

The following link may provide some incite to your issue especially if you
are running 32 bit vista without SP1 installed.
Do you also have Ready Boost memory installed? If yes how much?
What exact physical memory Dims do you have installed?
