My error is a 16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem error but goes like
this:-
C:\WINDOWS\UI\BIOSCTL.EXE
C:\WUNDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT The system file is not
suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows
applications. Choose close to terminate the application.
You get the option to close or ignore, tried both but
they both seem to close it anyway. I am mainly running
Call of Duty.
Cheers

John

You can solve that problem by copying the file from:
C:\WINDOWS\repair to C:\WINDOWS\System32.

Okay guys ... same problem here. And I really couldn't understand Jimmy's
solution. Call me computer illiterate, but I just put the disc in D, and I
am not sure what to do after that ... how do I copy the file from another
place, as opposed to copying from the CD? Please help! I am getting
disgusted w/ this error message, I don't understand it ... and I just bought
this computer, AND the Sims ... I really wanna play! It IS fixable, right?
email: Marcymlc@aol.com. Thanks so much!

Hello.

I've just put together a video showing how to go about doing this.

It's around 460KB (2 minute download on 56k dialup) you can download the
video from http://windows.dasmirnov.net/videos/autoexec.wmv (right-click the
link and save as... put it on your desktop or somewhere easy to find).

Couple of points...

Your Windows Explorer window may not show the full address i.e. it will show
'repair' instead of c:\windows\repair but don't worry about that, just make
sure you type in the full address c:\windows...etc.

You may also get a caution box pop up saying that you're entering a system
folder and that messing around in there can damage things, as long as you
don't touch anything else you'll be ok. 8-)

Make sure when you 'paste' autoexec.nt into the system32 directory you're
not clicking on another folder there, make sure it's in an empty space.

If you get asked if you want to overwrite autoexec.nt when you try pasting
it click yes.

Hope that helps!
