2000 to XP upgrade

I have purchased XP. On the box, it says for systems
without OS or 95 or earlier. Will this work on my 2000 for
an upgrade? Thanx.

Only if its a "retail version" of Windows XP Professional.
If its an "OEM version", then you can only install it "clean"
on a reformatted drive.

2000 to XP upgrade
Posted: 06-30-2004, 07:38 AM
Hi Everybody,
I have Win 2000 pro running on my Dell PC for the last 2
years so I thought I'd upgrade to XP. I have brought
Windows XP Professional Edition Upgrade.
The installation starts fine then the PC asks for the
Windows XP Professional CD to be placed in the CD tray?
but it is already in it! I open the tray and close it
again it looks at it and then keeps asking for the CD
again?
I can't seem to get passed this stage.

Any ideas?

Paul

I believe the solution is to copy the entire CD onto your disc drive -if you
have more than ample room.
The run setup from there.
