3 computer peer to peer - printing problem

using basic Windows NEtworking - the shared printer is on
a 98 box and the other 98 box and xp box need to print to
this one printer - brother 1440. All computers interface
without problem both file sharing and print sharing -
however I can only print a test page from the computers
that are connected via the LAN to the printer - if I
attemp to print from anyother program (Word, Word Pad,
Note pad, The interent) nothing happens. the printer
works fine on the machine it is attached -it is mapped
and shared on the respective computers - What am I
missing???
