64-bit device driver business question

Posted: 02-21-2004, 04:04 PM
Hello,

This message is a request for information regarding 64-bit device
drivers in a Windows environment. It is not an offer of service or a
request for employment.

Briefly:

My previous contract work is now complete. I am investigating two
options: relocate to another location and contract with a single
client or perform device driver work (32-bit to 64-bit migration) for
multiple clients at my present location. I need to know what the
prospects are for the second option.

Immediate Question:

Are you aware of anyone contemplating upgrading their existing 32-bit
products to 64-bit or of creating new 64-bit products? If so, would
that person be willing to discuss some aspects of the project?

Discussion Points:

1) Do you have any strong opinions with respect to "remote workers?"
I've been doing contract work for years and it seems like a lot of
firms object to this practice.

2) Are you buying 64-bit hardware specifically for this effort?

If I can find enough people willing to consider this type of
arrangement, I will be in a better position to assess the cost of
setting up the 64-bit work environment.

Thank you,

Mickey Lane

My appologies for the mangled e-mail address. I'm getting really tired
