896mb memory..

i recently bought 2x1gb ddr2800 ram and am running vista home premium... its
only giving me 896mb physical memory. i take a stick out and still runs at
896mb... my bios says it has 2048mb total.. is there an explanation for why i
can only get 896mb physical..

You should run an utility like CPU-Z. It is free and you can find it by
doing a search on the internet.
It will give information about each stick of memory in your system.

Something you might try is going to Start > type MSCONFIG and press enter >
go to BOOT > Then Advanced Options > Make sure that Maximum Memory isn't
checked. If it is, uncheck it and reboot.

Thanks a lot, I spent hours and hours trying to find a fix for this
problem.

I could not find anywhere that had the answer until now. This quick fix
really did the job.
