Accessing my music over the net

Posted: 02-01-2006, 02:00 PM
Hi - I hope this is the right forum to ask.

My setup - I have a Linksys NSLU2 (slug) storage hub connected to 2 USB
hard drives. I've stored all my music on there and listen to the music
through ITunes on my laptop over a wireless network.

I'd like to be able to listen to all this music while I'm at work. What
is the easiest way to acheive this? If I have ITunes installed on my
work PC, can I just set the library location to be my home folders? I
tried to do this by setting the NSLU2 up as an ftp server. I can see
the files from my work PC, but can't get ITunes to set that network
place as the location for the music files? Would it make a difference
if I connected as a web server, rather than a ftp server?

Is it feasible to play music over a network like this? My home internet
connection has an upload speed of 256kps.

If possible, I want everything to run from the NSLU2, as I don't want
to have to leave my laptop switched on the whole time. Also, my wife
sometimes takes it away.

Thanks
