Acronis True Image and Vista (Home Premium)

Has anyone had success saving and restoring a Vista Home Premium drive image
(C onto an external hard drive with Acronis, ver 11? If so, which
external hard drive did you use? Thanks.

I do it all the time!

I use a 500 gig Seagate drive in an Adaptec USB external drive housing. It
has an external power supply. I have had problems with some of the smaller
external drives that get their power from the USB port directly.

Pick one. It works with them all.

I got an eSATA and ATI 11 (up to date); no problems.

Thanks Richard, and all the others, for your replies.
I guess I'm taking this route, now that I see others have had success. I
was thinking "internal" drive, but why bother if an external one works well
for cloning and restoring drive images.

Thanks again.

Using an extra internal drive will result in faster backupsm (and
restores), but an external drive is better because it can be
disconnected when not in use, making your backups a tad safer.

X2, I never recommend using a second internal drive for backup, always an
external, and always keep it disconnected when not performing a backup or
restore operation.

Yer, joshing... RIGHT?

In case you're serious: it lessens the chance of losing it if
something - like a power surge - damages the machine and somehow might
damage connected devices as well.
