Default activating xp home

3 year old laptop w/ win xp home. XP came
on the computer from Dell & has always been activated.

Two error messages:

This copy of WIN XP must be activated before you
can log on. Once I click yes to activate, second error
message comes up:

OX80004005 : Problem is preventing WIN XP from accurately
checking license.

Thanks!

Use Start- Run and enter the following text in the dialog box:
regsvr32.exe regwizc.dll

Then do it again with the following text:
regsvr32.exe licdll.dll

Launch activation manually:
%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /A

Good luck

I can not access windows. I enter my password at the
login & the activation message comes up. What do I do if
I can't access the start menu?

Follow the advice in Ron's message but do it in Safe Mode. Boot the System,
start tapping F8, when the menu appears, select Safe Mode and press enter.
At Safe Mode, choose the account named administrator, leave the password
blank unless you made a password for this hidden account, press enter and
then follow the steps in Ron's post.
