I was getting the same message for my Samsung printer. Decided to look
for a new printer driver at http://www.driverguide.com (universal
login is drivers, password all). Found the unexpected advice there
that if installed in addition to a Samsung driver, a Lexmark driver
would stop the new hardware message. Several messages attested to
saved sanity by this means.

Oh, yes, my printer has never shown up on the device manager list,
but, hey, it runs.
