Adjust Hard Drive Timeout

Posted: 07-16-2003, 07:50 PM
Howdy,

My hard drive is dying, pretty quickly. It can read files
sporadically and very slowly. Any series of files above
20K can cause the hard drive to halt and XP to detect it
as no longer attached to the computer. So:

Is there a registry value or some other way to adjust how
long it takes Windows to recognize a hard drive
as "detached." I would like to make it take hours for the
hard drive to timeout.

TIA,
David

Nice utils on website.

This is the problem I'm having. I have my new hard drive.
Currently, I can backup 5-10 tiny files @ a time due to
the drive becoming detached.
