Admin / user acct question

Posted: 07-24-2003, 03:43 PM

I have two accounts setup on my daughters new laptop one
Administrative and one limited user (which she use for day
to day use).

I have McAfee ViriScan 7.0 running on Win XP Pro. I prefer
to manual check for updates so each time I'm she is on
line she just launches the main program were she simply
clicks on the "Check for VirusScan Updates' to keep
everything up to snuff.

She has no problem if she logged on as Administrator doing

She does have a problem doing it when logged on the her
(limited) user every day account. When she launches the
program and clicks on the same "Check for VirusScan
Updates" a message pops up saying only the Administrator
can perform this function or something to that effect.

I don't understand what's the big deal about updating
viruscan from the limited uder account.

Is this a function that should normaly be limited to Admin
only? It just goes out checks for new DAT file to keep up
to date and appliesthem automaticaly.

Thanks for help
