normal use. You should keep that account for use only when it's needed and do your internet browsing and all with a limited account because for most of your internet activites you won't need administrator priviledges. On Control Panel, you'll see USER ACCOUNTS, click here, select the account name that you want to manage and you'll have a list of choices including CHANGE ACCOUNT TYPE which is the one you want. Problem is, I imagine that you'll have to have administrator priviledges to be able to change an account to administrator. But the USER ACCOUNTS screen will list all accounts along with their type and perhaps that knowledge will help you. If you are unable to access ANY administrator account then the only solution that I know of, is to reinstall Windows. Someone who knows more than I may also know differently. | Guest

| At the welcome screen, hit ctrl-alt-del twice in succession. You will then see the windows 2000 style logon window where you can manually enter a userid and pw. unless you renamed the administrator account, the userid should be "administrator" w/o the quotes. The password is whatever you had it at before, or blank by default. Hope this helps. -- Frank Bachman (Grumpy Aero Guy) "mich" <michgia@sympatico.ca> wrote in message news:088001c3de9c$e3962c00$a101280a@phx.gbl... Quote:

| BTW....it's good practice to have two accounts that have administrator priviliges. If you're one of the 5 accounts, go ahead and make YOUR account one of the administrator accounts as well. Then, your account can do administrative things, and the "hidden" acount is still there in the "background". .... my $0.05 -- Frank Bachman (Grumpy Aero Guy) "mich" <michgia@sympatico.ca> wrote in message news:088001c3de9c$e3962c00$a101280a@phx.gbl...
