| I upgrade from XP MCE to Vista premium and when i installed it I'm only the administrator account. After installing Vista premium i put password on administrator account, is it normal for the UAC alert to not show the password in Administrator account? I thought that once i put administrator a password it would also give me UAC alert with password credential everytime. | Guest

| Hello, This is normal behavior. When you are running as an administrator, Windows will only ask for your consent to perform an administrative action. If you are a standard user, Windows will require you to log in with an administrative account in order to proceed. -- - JB Microsoft MVP - Windows Shell/User Windows Vista Support Faq http://www.jimmah.com/vista/ | Guest

| Yes, You can force administrators to authenticate in order to perform an administrative action. You will have to edit the registry to do this. - Click start - Type: regedit - Press enter - In the left, browse to the following location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Policies\System - In the right, double-click ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin - Type: 1 - Press enter -- - JB Microsoft MVP - Windows Shell/User Windows Vista Support Faq http://www.jimmah.com/vista/ | Guest

| Yes, Doing actions that require administrative privileges from a standard user account will prompt for an administrator to log in to perform the task. -- - JB Microsoft MVP - Windows Shell/User Windows Vista Support Faq http://www.jimmah.com/vista/ | Guest

| I would recommend putting a password on it, but it's up to you. -- - JB Microsoft MVP - Windows Shell/User Windows Vista Support Faq http://www.jimmah.com/vista/ | Guest

| You can change UAC behaiviour in the Local Security policy (secpol.msc) in the Security options as well, better than editing registry. -- P Hutchison "Jimmy Brush" wrote: Quote:
