administrator priv not recognized after program closes

Yeah that makes sense. The program that works correctly untill Vistas admin
problems come up and the standard response is "the program is at fault"

Sound to me like Vistas "running admin programs not at admin levels" program
is at fault.

You are making an incorrect assumption because you have not taken the time
to look at the underlying reasons for the way Vista works. There are no
admin problems in Vista, only in the way programs that are not Vista
compliant work.

Up until now, some programs have been written to require that they be given
full access to the Windows system with no restrictions at all, even if the
programs did not really require this type of access. This allowed things
like viruses and other malware to use these programs to gain access to the
system core and perform their dirty deeds. These programs were written this
way simply because it was easier than writing them to access only the
specific parts of the system that they actually needed.

These legacy programs need to be updated to comply with the restrictions
that are present in Vista. A program that meets these new standards will not
require the elevated prompt for admin access to be displayed.

I will read the 8 pages and see what I can do.

My biggest frustration comes from the fact that I did NOT want to buy a
laptop with VISTA because these transitional problems need time to be ironed
out, it usually takes a year for both the MS world and Non-MS world to become
compatible.
