Aero not an option? PC is capable

Posted: 09-15-2006, 08:56 PM
I have a HP Pavillion DV2000T. 2.16 Intel Core, 128MB Nvidia Force 7200, 2
GB RAM etc.

In the Appearance and settings i do not have the option for aerio, only
Vista Basic. I have followed the instructions in the Windows Help file....
and the nvidia drivers are up to date. Any suggestions? ( display settings
are 32bit, refresh rate is 60hz, theme is windows vista....) Appearance
settings is were I can't get the aero option.

If on RC1 do you have the NVIDIA RC1 Vista drivers instelled for your 7200
card?
Do you have the latest BIOS installed for system?

The RC1 Vista Drivers were released on September 8th and certainly not the
ones that came with your card go to the NVIDIA website and downlaod the RC1
Vista drivers nor are they available yet with VISTA or Vista WinUpdate.
Check the HP Website for a BIOS update for our computer mode. The
instruections for the update are most likely with the update itself.

I had this problem too, solved it, and then couldn't remeber what I had done
to fix it - then this morning I found the answer again.

Right click on the desktop and choose 'Personalize', from the new dialog box
choose 'Window Color and Appearance'. Right at the bottom of all the options
there is a blue text link 'Open classic appearance properties for more color
options'. Click on this and it will give you the option to set it to 'Aero'.
Clicking the advanced button will allow you to change fonts etc for all the
other windows settings.
