After installing, missing drivers

I installed Vista on an external hard drive and when it boots up. It says
that ntldr is missing. I copied the file onto the partion but it still says
the same thing when I boot it up.

Boot from the Vista Cd and run startup repair

Vista Beta 2 can not be run from an external hard drive.
