Antivirus 2008

Is this an actual microsoft product? I keep getting this message on the
computer saying I need to downloan Antivirus 2008 and that it has found many
viruses on my PC. When I looked up the file location it comes up in
C:\users\AppData\Roamong\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu
It is causing problems on the PC and looks like it just was created a few
days ago. I can't get into e-mail because it says there is a threat and won't
let me continue. I tried to delete the file but I couln't find it when I went
into my computer. There was no App Data file that I could see. I have Norton
antivirus installed and I ran a scan on the file but got nothing. I want to
get rid of this but don't knwo how. Can anyone help?

No. This is one of the many rogue antivirus/antimalware programs. They are
called "rogue" because they pretend to be one of the Good Guys but in
reality they are Bad Guys. You've got an infection. Here are removal

It is difficult to say anything regarding this as you have mention onl
Anti Virus 2008 however you may isolate if the issue is caused b
Norton. Disable the Norton 2008 from the startup and check.

1. Click Start Peal button
2. In search button type " msconfig
3. In the system configuration window click on startup tab at top
4. Uncheck the Norton that you fin
5. Click on Apply and ok to close the window
6. Restart the PC

I wanted to thank you. I did what you said and it looks like the malware is
gone. I never hit the okay button when it wanted me to continue with the
program. I don't know if that means anything but I knew it wasn't a Norton
program and I was leary of it. But the good thing is that it is GONE! Thanks

I installed it and am trying to get my money back to no avail. I told them
that I was going to report it to the attorney general, better business bureau
and chamber of commerce. I think I am out the $68 + they charged me - not the
original amount they said they would charge ($38).

If you paid for it using your credit card, contact you credit card company
and order a "charge-back". Tell you company that you've attempted to
resolve this with the software company but have had no success. You will
get credited.

what antivirus product to you recommend? PC Tools? MS Live OneCare?

Neither of those. I like NOD32 (commercial) or Avast if you need a free one.
