Any Way to Stop Canon Scanner From Starting at XP Startup?

Posted: 01-06-2009, 10:31 AM
I have a Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 scanner and every time I start Windows
XP SP3 the scanner also starts and makes various noises. Is there any
way I can stop the scanner from starting automatically? I've looked
in MSCONFIG and didn't see anything that looked related and couldn't
find anything anywhere else. All suggestions welcome. Thanks for any
help.

Suggestion:
Turn it off / unplug it.
If its powered on / standby, Windows probably detects it at start up.

Just a thought.

Thank you for your quick reply. The scanner is powered by it's USB
connection and doesn't have an on/off switch; essentially it is off
when I start up Windows XP. I was hoping for a software item to
delete/modify to correct this.

Hi ,

Unplug the Canon from the USB port. When you need to scan something in,
like a bill or letter, just plug the Canon back into the USB port. Very
simple and it does not hurt to keep the USB devices unplugged until needed
by you.

It does this by design. If you elect to unplug it until needed, it will go
through its calibration process each time you use it..
