| I have purchased a new Dell Desktop with vista and office 2007 OEM versions. Excel, Word and Messenge all work for less than a minute then close with an error message saying they have stopped working and windows is colecting more information. I cant seem to find any downloads that can help this. The error and performacne management sections of Visita suggest no solutions. Can anyone help? | Guest

much problems. If the computer is brand new, and your software came with it (which I believe it has if it's OEM versions of Office, right?) then I would be looking to them to sort this out; they have sold you something which does not work. I'm suggesting this because if it worked this badly out of the box you may have a hardware fault or an issue caused by something Dell themselves have installed, and they would therefore be in a much better place to diagnose and fix this than anyone else. | Guest

ago my 2 month old Sager 5760 laptop (Vista Premium 64bit OS) started to close applications automatically. I get errors such as the "application has stopped working please close program". Applications range from IE7, Microsoft Office and Outlook, Skype, MSN Messenger, NOD32, and Media Player to name a few. Dr. Watson also shuts down and I get a WerFault.exe error as well. I do however, remain connected to the internet (somehow I still receive my RSS feeds) ; I just haveno way to access anything dealing with the internet. I have three other computers with XP as the OS and no problems with them. My computers are on a Linksys wireless network and again no problems with other computers. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. howardsmash30 ![]() -- howardsmash30 | Guest

take to mean that whatever he was doing worked fine for a while but then suddenly would not. Anyway, that has been my experience in at least two cases as regard the "Home Premium" version: (1) A variety of old programs in sixteen-bit or mixed code eventually go wrong and put up a message about how NTVDM.EXE has stopped working, although oddly enough CMD.EXE with the DOS box is not affected. Restarting the machine fixes the problem until whatever-it- is happens again. (My best guess is that it has something to do with Vista going off into "sleep" mode automatically rather than by request. Since yesterday, I told it never to shut down at all and have not seen the problem since -- so far.) (2) Word 97 worked fine yesterday, but today it crashes when I close it -- EXCEPT that if I run it as administrator, it does not crash. Huh? On the other hand, I have seen no Internet problems at all, and can't say anything useful about your. John H. McCloskey | Guest

| Hey Eatmorebeef, I am having the exact same problem you described with Windows Word quitting on my Dell. How did you resolve it? JayBee "Eatmorebeef" wrote: Quote:
