ASP.Net won't successfully install?

Panel? The option is there, but every time I try to enable it by clicking
the checkbox, an error occurs and it failes. I had to search around to find
that I had to enable the Process Activation and WWW Publishing services,
but why does the UI expose something that will always error out? Was setting
up ASP.Net not a test scenario?
I'm a software developer, and installing Vista has been the worst mistake of
my career (and I installed a Win95 beta the night before a demo before).
Seriously, I cannot name a feature that I use on a daily basis that is not
screwed up in some manner, and I'm wondering how MS ever shipped this thing
in the condition it is in.
