Assigning sounds to program event questions...

Ok...I have XP and I'm trying to assign sounds to program
events but there's a problem: the list is too
generalized. I'm trying to have certain songs and sounds
played with only certain things...but I only have options
that cover too many events.
Is there a way to customize this list? Is there a way to
assign sounds to anything you want?
