At the end of the ride

Posted: 12-03-2006, 06:04 AM
Well folks,

Since we are at the end of this ride, I gotta say, it has been fun.
Now that the RTM is out, and the market release is just around the corner, I
figure I will be coming here less and less.

I however will say that I have learned a lot through our interactions. Both
on the technical side and on the personal side. And I will leave you all
with a couple simple thoughts.

1. Things don't always go as you plan or wish. We have learned this through
our time together. Some things we don't expect become a pleasent surprise,
like the RC2 release. Some things you hope for just don't come thorough,
like the RTM for CPP. But the ride has been fun, and I have enjoyed it.
2. We have shown that everyone has the ability to help others. Whether you
are a novice or an expert. I have given advice and gotten some great advice.
Good work and kudos to all :-)
3. Every little bit helps. Now when I have an issue, I get a message on my
screen telling me "Microsoft has fixed this issue for the release version of
Vista. That tells me that the bug reports have not gone un-noticed. Applauds
to CPP, Technet, and MSDN users, and of course Microsoft for fixing it. Job
well done.
4. Our MVPs have been the bomb! You guys have cooled a lot of fired, fought
the good fight, and been a great help to all the Vista groups. Two thumbs
up!
5. Folks, we have proven we can make a difference in the way things work.
Raising your voice does work. The EULA shows that. Now I am sure that there
were other factors, but I am sure that these groups and comments had
something to do with it. And if not, well, I am going to believe it did
anyhow.

Everyone who played a part in this group, gave something to the group.
Whether you were pro-Microsoft, or anti-Microsoft. Whether you loved the OS,
or hated the OS, you gave us something to think about, and tought us
something we may have not already known.

I will still stop by every so often to see new posts and maybe offer what I
can, but still using RC2, I may be a little behind the times.. I will help
with what I can.

As I said in an earlier post:
It has been like a rollercoaster. It has gone up, gone down, twisted from
right to left, back to right, sent us in circles, made our hair stand up at
times, and yes, maybe made us feel a bit queezy at times. But it has been a
good ride. And sooner or later the ride does have to end. So, on our way to
the carnival docking, let me tell you all that I expect to see you at the
next ride, when ever that is.

Till then, RACE YOU TO THE FARRIS WHEEL!

Gene,

Visit at least weekly... RTM doesn't mean the ride is over. In fact, it may
be beginning for real now. In any case, enjoy the ride.

Especially since the Vista public groups weren't created for the CPP. They
are the permanent Vista support groups.
