It doesn't work even when you try playback from WMP's Copy from CD pane?
Under the properties for the CD drive in WMP's Tools:Optionsevices, does
it help playback if you switch from digital to analog?

The error message in general refers to codec or driver problems. Installing
WMP9 should have fixed that. Right click on an audio CD > Open with > choose
your programme and make sure the Always .... box is checked > Apply > OK

Hi Jerry,

I wish it were that simple. It still says that WMP does
not recognize the extension. Plus, even though I have
reinstalled media player twice, it is still telling me
Invalid MCI device ID.

A lot of people seem to be having thes same problem as
myself, but no one has provided a workable answer yet.

This started happening to me last week. I found a fix on Google that I'm
iffy about trying - deleting "cdrom" from the mci section of the registry.

Winamp, WMP9, or anything else won't play my CDs. This is terribly
frustrating!!

All I can say is that last week I got a copy protected audio CD. Maybe the
damn thing screwed up my system?
