Audio/Sounds running slow after installation of SP1

We are having a problems after installing Windows XP
undate SP1. We have tried installing SP1 several times
since it came out last year. Each time after
installing SP1 our Audio/Sounds run slow. The most noted
example is when playing spidar solitare. When you click
on the stack of cards at the bottom to get a new set of
cards the sound of the cards "laying down" on the
previously delt cards are delayed by about 7 seconds.
You can tell at times that other sounds are a little
delayed but not as bad as the spider sollitaire. We
have installed and uninstalled the Service pack probably
about 5 times since it came out last year, hoping that
they had fixed the problem ,but so far the sounds/audio
are still acting the same. THE SOUNDS GO BACK TO
NORMAL, ARE NOT DELAYED ANY, AFTER UNINSTALLING THE
WINDOWS XP SP1 UPDATE.

The system as a whole is running a little slow after the
SP1 udate, but not bad. The system speed returns to
normal after uninstalling the service pack.

A fix/suggestion to our audio/sound problem would be
appreciated.
