Authorization required

Posted: 12-26-2003, 05:19 PM
I pay for access to a website and the website doesn't
recognize me. I have checked with the host and everything
is o.k. on their end. I keep getting 401 Authorization
required. My password and security code are good. The
error says "my browser doesn't understand how to supply
the credentials required." How do I fix this?

Have you always had this problem trying to access this website or did it
just start? If it just started, try using System Restore to take you back
to a time prior to when this began. Start\All Programs\Accessories\System
Tools\System Restore. If you've always had this issue, turn off all
security on your computer, firewalls, Antivirus, etc. and see if you can
then enter. You might turn them off one at a time so you can figure out
what application is the source of the issue. Also, popup blocking software
can cause this type of issue as well.

Do you have IE set to remember passwords for sites? Perhaps there is a typo
in the information for this site? You can reset the stored information by
using Internet Options> Content> AutoComplete. Click the Clear Passwords
button. If any browser windows were open when making that change, close
them. Then launch IE and try the site again.
