AutoCAD plt files

I want to send .plt files to a remote printer such as a
consultant's printer so they check our work on hard copy.

I have been trying to test a sample .plt file with our
own HP plotter and I have been unable to get it to the
plot queue.

What am I doing wrong? Will the .plt file work at all?
