Autoplay dialog box settings

Posted: 10-15-2007, 04:54 PM
I did something really stupid. After I downloaded pictutres off an SD
card using autoplay, I needed to delete the pictures. So, I reloaded the
SD card, it read the disk and up came the dialog box for deleting
pictures after transfer. I unchecked all of the possibles and left on
delete after download and it deleted as I wanted. But now when I insert
an SD card, Autoplay immediately downloads and deletes without saving
the pics. How, do I get back to the dialog box in order to reset the
commands and save pics before deleting. HELP!

This sounds like a dialog that is part of the software that came with the SD
card or the camera. There are no options in Autoplay for automatically
deleting files?

You can access all of the Autoplay options in Control Panel/Autoplay.

Ronnie,

It really is a Windows box that comes up when you put the SD card in. It
states: "Importing pictures and videos" Then the next screen immesdiately
pops ip: "Erasing X pictures". And it never imports the pictures. I made the
changes on a pop up settings box, by unclicking import pictures and
activating the delete pictures after locating. Would reinstalling Autoplay
files help resolve this. Right now Autoplay cannot import my pictures without
deleting them all. Help!

I don't doubt what you say you are seeing, it's just that there is nothing
associated with Autoplay that leads to deleting any files. There has to be
another program that is popping up to erase the pictures. Pay attention to
the Title Bar in the dialog that pops up and erases the pictures. This
should show which program is generating that box.

Open Control Panel / Autoplay and click the Reset Defaults near the bottom
of the screen. Click the Save Button. Open Autoplay again and click the drop
down menu in the Pictures section and select the 'Ask me everytime' option.

What option is selected in that drop down menu now???

There are 3 options there to view the picture files in different programs,
depending on what you have installed.

Ronnie, I did those things. Thanks. I'm still missing the option to tag the
pictures that I import. That was one of the screens that always came up using
the autoplay import function. That is one of the items I "Unchecked". How can
I recover that command? Right now it just locates the photos on the Sd, and
then erases them. I don't know where it is sabving them. Any ideas?

Tom

This is just a guess, but what happens if you open Autoplay in Control
Panel, select the Pictures drop down menu and then select each of the
following options:
Import pictures using Windows.
View pictures using Windows.
View pictures using Windows Media Center.
Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer.

After selecting each option, close Control Panel, insert the SD card and see
what the result is.

Let me know the results.

Ronnie,

When I load the SD card the following dialog box comes up: Importing
pictures and videos. Then immediately, it says: Erasing pictures. There
really was a dialog box that popped up 3 days ago, and I changed the settings
to erase all pictures after loading, and unchecked the load pics box. Would
reinstalling Autoplay resolve my problem. Tom Conter
