Avatars no longer works

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Since Messenger 7.0.1 avatars (or "user tiles") no longer works on any of my contacts. All I get is the green generic one.
With 6.0.3 and 7.0 only some contacs were affected, now I can't see any avatars at all.

What gives?

I cannot upload my display pictures since i started using this new version of mac msn. Is there anything to be rectified ? cheers

My own display picture is not the problem. It's my contacts display pictures I can't see.
