| I'd like to know if there is now way to back up laptop to external drive on desktop running xp through the network. When I try it says that this can't be done on a pc that's running xp. Could some one explain why it can't be done? Many thanks in advance, Linda | Guest

Vista backup process? If the answer to both questions is "yes", then you can't use the built-in Vista backup to backup to a network drive hosted on an XP Home computer. It has to be XP Pro. The workaround would be to use a different backup program such as Acronis True Image. If this information isn't applicable to your situation, then please post back with more details. | Hi Malke, Thanks for the reply, and yes sadly it is yes to both questions. I was hoping i could just use the installed backup, instead of installing more software. Sigh, why is it that you can't backup to an external drive where the pc it's attached to is running xp-home? It kind of feels like your being penalised by Microsoft. "Malke" wrote: Quote:
