| The Backup Utility is not installed by default on XP Home. If you have a retail copy of XP Home it's installer program is located in the ValueAdd directory. Some OEM CDs do not include it. -- Harry Ohrn MS MVP [Shell/User] www.webtree.ca/windowsxp "MARK SHERIDAN" <MARSH618@AOL.COM> wrote in message news:049c01c350b2$90731dd0$a601280a@phx.gbl... Quote:

Backup is installed automatically on XP Professional, but not on XP Home. If you have the complete XP Home CD, find backup on the CD, in \ValueAdd\MSFT\NTBACKUP and install it yourself. Also see http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=302894 And please don't yell at us. We can hear you if you type normally, in mixed case. -- Ken Blake Please reply to the newsgroup | Guest

| The Backup utility is not included in the default installation of Windows XP Home Edition. The Backup icon is not present on the Start menu in Windows XP Home Edition, nor is Backup listed in Add Remove Programs for Windows XP Home edition. This article describes how to install Backup, which is included on the CD-ROM in the Valueadd folder. To use Backup, you have to install it manually. Install Backup from the CD-ROM in Windows XP Home Edition http://support.microsoft.com/support...s/302/8/94.asp For OEMs (dont have XP CD), download ntbackup from: http://www.onecomputerguy.com/software/ntbackup.msi -- Regards, Ramesh SRamesh2k@hotmail.com "Michael" <thetrainmaster@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:2f9401c379e5$2e6ec970$a601280a@phx.gbl... Here's a Safe Computing Tip; Don't download an executable from a company you are unfamiliar with, based on the say-so of someone on Usenet without doing a little research first. I had to hack this url to "www.execsoft.com" to get to the company's web page and make sure they hadn't added a backup utility to their one and only product. Oh, yes. My undertanding is that the company that wrote MS ntbackup was eithe Seagate or Veritas and they may have sold off any interest in retail backup software. -- Al Dykes ----------- adykes@panix.com | Guest
