big red button

Posted: 07-22-2003, 09:36 AM
While browsing the internet. I decided to play a CD; so I reached down to
press the button to open the CD drive. Unfortunately, I pressed the power
button instead.

Does xp cope with this better than 98 did, aand is there any way to find out
if I've done any damage?

Jim

Hi Jim,

XP copes better. Just turn the system back on. It may run a chkdsk, but you
should be fine.

jim/rick/etal
note - they're not all 'big or red' anymore - |
1/
hutch here also uses 'file counts' produced by nav which
have 'scheduled to run at bootup along with adaware'-ie
just compare count to prev count in nav's summary log
report for any diff's
2/
also - you can chk your 'error/activity logs'
as well as 'any dr.watson entries'
3/
and as rick said - win xp req's a run for
chkdsk.exe/checkdisk/-if all is not well
and
take it fr there

hth
God Bless
hutch

Thanks....I've had a look at some of the reports - scarey stuff! I'll read
them properly later

Thanks
Jim
