Default Re: Bios Password

Richard;
Check the documentation or contact Toshiba.
This is taking place before the operating system is functioning.

XP uses the Welcome screen or the Windows 2000 style logon. If getting the
welcome screen... What happens if you select the user name, enter nothing
in the password box? If you have not added a password to this account and
did not ignore password expiration notices, you should be able to access
the account. If getting the Windows 2000 style logon, enter your user name
(may be case sensitive) and leave the password blank.

If still stuck, there is the default builtin account with the user name
Administrator. In XP home, that account is only available when you boot to
Safe Mode. Press F8 to get the Advanced startup menu and select Safe Mode
from the list of options. Use Administrator for user name and leave
password box blank. Once in Safe Mode, use Control Panel to add or remove
the password from your user account.

In XP Pro, press Ctrl+Alt+Del twice to bring up the Win2000 style of
prompt. Administrator is the user name. Password will be blank IF Windows
was preinstalled by the OEM. It will be whatever was chosen at the time of
installation if a self-install.

BIOS passwords: The BIOS password is separate from Windows. It is stored
wherever your BIOS version keeps that information and that location is
seldom on the hard drive. Most system's have a method for erasing a stored
password. Details would be in the system manual or can be obtained from OEM
tech support.
