Black Screen on startup, help!

Posted: 10-27-2003, 04:21 PM
Hello!

This didn't happen to me before. Of course I had to press
reset, which resulted that it brought up the "we are
sorry..., also black screen, but with the same options as
when you press F8 on reboot.

The default, with 30 seconds left, was on "Windows XP",
so of course I didn't change it with the arrows,
to "restore to a previous state".

My question is, was this just a coincidence and probably
I won't have to worry about it happening again or should
I repair the master boot record by using the FIXMBR
command from the Windows XP Console?

I also got a list of causes, from the webpage:

"This behavior can occur if one or more of the following
elements are corrupted: Master boot record, Partition
tables, Boot sector or NTLDR file".

What should I do, can someone offer an explanation?

Nick

If you are not continuing to have the problem, don't worry about it. If the
problem continues, please post any and all error messages and/or contents of
any blue screen message.
