Blank Disk?

When I try to burn music onto a CD using any program (Windows Media Player, Real One, etc) it will go through the steps, ask for a blank CD and when I put on in it doesn't recognize it. It continues to tell me to put a blank disk in. I use CD-R disks. I have a Sony DVD-RW DW U12A. I've tried both Maxell and TDK CD-R disks. It worked before but now it doesn't. What's up?
