Blaster patch caused loss of POP3 connectivity

Posted: 08-15-2003, 05:52 PM
Since I loaded the patch to fix the buffer overrun
vulnerability used by the Blaster worm, I have been unable
to connect to any of my POP3 mail accounts with any of the
email clients on my system. Netscape mail reports
"connection refused", CorelCENTRAL reports just "unable to
connect", and Outlook Express reports: "The connection to
the server has failed. Account: 'mail.cablespeed.com',
Server: 'mail.cablespeed.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number:
0x800CCC0E". How do I restore access to my mail accounts?
