My limited understanding is as follows:
INFCACHE.1 is the "quick access" cache of previously installed drivers that
is the first place Vista looks if you plug in a new USB device. Somehow,
INFCACHE.1 becomes corrupt and causes Vista to "think" that the needed
drivers are not available when you plug in a new device. Deleting INFCACHE.1
forces Vista to look for the drivers in the original installed location and
allows your new device to be recognized.

I hope and believe this bug will be squashed in SP1.

to think i wasted two hours trying to get my devices to work and something
as easy as deleting a file would of done it. one of theses days i'm gonna
take out the garbage (windows) and go with linux.

I encourage you to try out Linux on your machine. Two hours trying to get
something to work will suddenly seem like minutes in comparison.

trust me linux works but i'm nervous to go that route cuz i have lot of
program that i need that requires windows , and the thing i don't like
about linux are the drivers are not easy to get, i had linux at one point
but i had to leave it
other than last night the problem i was talking about i don't have a lots of
problem with vista, it's running smooth for me
funny enough, but now that i learned that that file could be the main
problem of my concern, next time i install a device i'll keep it in mind,
because even now after deleting that file last night everything went back to
normal(as normal as windows can get, lol), i have no problem now the file is
gone been checking it it hasn't returned even after i re-installed other
devices. BUT DON'T FORGET MY ADVICE BELOW GUYS BOTH OF THEM lol
