Yes, followed all the instructions. I have just run a test
on the hard drive, and it says hard drive is working fine.

I found this at http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm
0x00000024: NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM
(Click to consult the online Win XP Resource Kit article, or see Windows
2000 Professional Resource Kit, p. 1543.)
A problem occurred within NTFS.SYS, the driver file that allows the system
to read and write to NTFS file system drives. There may be a physical
problem with the disk, or an Interrupt Request Packet (IRP) may be
corrupted. Other common causes include heavy hard drive fragmentation, heavy
file I/O, problems with some types of drive-mirroring software, or some
antivirus software. I suggest running ChkDsk or ScanDisk as a first step;
then disable all file system filters such as virus scanners, firewall
software, or backup utilities. Check the file properties of NTFS.SYS to
ensure it matches the current OS or SP version. Update all disk, tape
backup, CD-ROM, or removable device drivers to the most current versions.

Blue Screen Error
Posted: 10-19-2003, 11:16 PM
My wife receives the following blue screen error during
startup.
***Stop: 0x00000007E (0x80000003, 0xF989C4CC, 0xF9EA5828,
0x9EA5528)

***NDIS.sys - Address F989C4CC base at F9888000 DateStamp
3b7dc561

I have restored, updated BIOS and several other checks
performed in Safe Mode. Nothing seems to help. Anyone
that can help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

I am getting a blue screen error that says that I have a
program installed wrong and to fix it I should go to safe
mode and install it correctly. problem is all of my
programs seem to be installed correctly. Does anyone
have any suggestions as to how to fix this?

Start with the program you installed most recently. Uninstall that one, and
keep going back in time until the blue screens stop. You've found your
culprit. Be sure that all your software is 100% compatible with XP, and that
you disable your virus scanner when installing (and uninstalling.)

I recently installed a DVDRW drive as my 2nd cd-rom
drive. My 1st is a regular DVD drive. Since then,
whenever I put an audio CD in either drive, after reading
the CD for a few seconds, about half the time I'll get the
blue screen saying: A WAIT OPERATION, ATTACH PROCESS, OR
YIELD WAS ATTEMPTED FROM A DPC ROUTINE. TECH INFO: STOP:
0x000000B8 (0x00000000, 4x) PHYSICAL MEMOR DUMP. and it
reboots. It's not any software issues, i checked all
drivers, both drives do work as far as playing DVD's and
CD's. I don't think I have the slave/master settings
wrong. I'm really not sure what it could be. Any ideas?

Make sure all your Windows updates are up to date. There
maybe one to fix this problem. If that is not the case, try
uninstalling new DVD and then reboot and let XP find and
install its own drivers....Good luck.

What you might also try is swapping what drive is
slave/master. I have run into instances like this and
once you swap the drives the problem has gone away. I do
not have an exact technical explanation other than maybe
the drive and how the circuitry works for these devices
maybe picky. Another thing you could do is slave the DVD
drive to a harddrive and then leave the DVD/Burner on its
own IDE Port to see if that helps. It is quite possible
you have a bad cable or drive.
