Blue screen on boot after new raid array

Posted: 01-13-2009, 02:56 AM

i recently decided to go with a raid array for my file storage on my
desktop. i originally just had 3 hard drives, one being a western
digital sata 250 gig on which win xp and vista are installed. i am
adding 2- 500 gig seagate satas for a mirrored array. originally, i
didn't install the raid drivers when i installed my system. after
initializing the array in my bios , i go into boot either winxp or win
vista and get a blue screen (bsod). booting into safe mode stops at
crcdisk.sys and then resets.
as much as i would hate to reinstall, i am afraid i might have to...
even if the process is long, i'm willing to avoid a reinstall..
what should i do?
thanks,
rob

Are you using an Intel Raid like ich9r or ich8r? You need to post wha
kind of SATA controller you are using

I just had this same issue and all it took was the installation o
raid/ahci drivers before making the switch to raid

What is the error number (0x0000007B perhaps)? Can you still change you
settings in the cmos back to non raid or ide so that it still boots int
windows? If so we ought to be able to forcibly install the drivers an
make it work
