boot problem

Posted: 08-27-2003, 01:01 AM
hi, my friends computer isnt booting up and none of the
safe mode or debug modes boot either. He uses windows XP
Home edition and he has SP1. I am trying to get into the
recovery console, but his computer did not come with an XP
disk(or he lost it, he's not sure). I have a windows XP
proffesional disk but when i try to access the recovery
console it asks for an administrator password and nothing
will work. he says none of the accounts on his computer
have a password. I tried the default
password "administrator" and that didnt work either. Is
it possible to even use the recovery console on a home
edition computer with an xp proffesional disk? if so how
can i get into the recovery console if the passwords arent
working? thanks in advaced to any help with this problem.
