Bootup Error Message

Posted: 02-10-2004, 11:46 AM
Hi everyone, nice to meet you all :

Im getting an error message and blue screen of death on the bootup of XP Professional, the error is

STOP: 0x0000007B (0xFD583640, 0xc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000

Check for Viruses, remove and newly installed hard drives or hard disk controllers, try runnin
chkdsk /F...

Does anyone know what could have caused this, or a way around getting into windows

I have tried safe mode boot, and also safe mode command mode, but still get the above error

When booting in safe mode i can see the system reading the system files during boot, so it doesn't appea
to be a physical problem with the hard-disk because it is clearly working

I also tried booting using the option "Use previously known working configuration" but that also failed

Short of formatting and re-installing I don't know what to do, but don't really want to do that

I want to get down to the cause of the problem and try fixing it

Many thanks for any help you may provide

Jonathan.
