You can burn slide shows (or movies for that matter) to CD-R with your CD
burner in VCD (video CD) format. Many (but not all) newer DVD players can
play VCDs- check the manual that came with your unit to see if it is
VCD-capable.

I just recently created a slide show with background music using
MemoriesOnTV: http://www.picturetotv.com/ The trial version is fully
functional but places the text "evaluation version" into your slide show.
I liked it enough that I ended up paying for it.

Microsoft offers something for free which *sounds* very similar:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/plus/dme/photo.asp

Both MemoriesOnTV and the Microsoft product allow you to burn the slide
show in VCD format.

Hope that helps,
Ian.

Hi,

You can use "Photo DVD Maker" to use your cd writer to burn photo
slide show video CD. You don't need DVD writer. But the image quality
on TV is very good. the resolution on TV is 704x576.

website is http://www.photo-dvd-maker.com
