Burning problem with WMP 9

Posted: 06-23-2004, 01:23 AM
I'm not sure if this is a software problem or a hardware problem, but every time I put in a blank cd, the drive does not regconize it as a blank cd, nor does WMP 9. WMP tells me that the cd-r is in use. The few times that it does read the blank cd, if I make a change to the writing speed or anything else in the Options box (no matter what it is), WMP goes back to telling me that the cd-r is in use. I have to restart my computer everytime I make a change to the Options box, and hope that it will read the blank cd. If anybody has any advice it would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi. I had that problem when I first started burning CDs, because I was
following the steps in "Windows XP for Dummies". So I then did things
differently, with great success. First I made a playlist in My Music. Then,
to burn it to a CD, I go to that playlist in My Music, put a blank CD in my E
drive, right-click on the playlist I want (I have many in My Music), and then
click on "Copy to CD or device". Media Player opens at this point. Click on
"Playlist to Copy" in the new window, and this makes a drop-down list. Click
on the playlist you want in that list. Then click the red "Copy" button over
on right side. This is the ONLY way I can burn CDs in my XP. If, when youi
open Media Player, a dialogue box with options opens, click on "Ignore" and
proceed from there. Good luck.
