buzzing sound

I just installed the abit at8 motherboard on my comp and am having some
problems with the sound system. playing wma, mp3 files from disk or streaming
audio, using either windows media player or realplayer, i get a buzzing,
electronic sound. It just lasts for a second or so and sounds like a
synthesizer or something. It doesnt rattle like a loose wire, it is an
electronic buzz.
I have checked the wires to the speakers and plugged them into the laptop,
which had no problems, and the system is identical except for the change in
the mother board. I did down load the new audio driver, but that hasn't made
any difference.
is there a way to determine exactly what is causing the sound?

appreciate any suggestions

i have been running process explorer, and the last time i heard the evil buzz
i went to ehat program and found that there had been a "hardware interupt"
which used up 38% of the cpu and apparently caused the buzz. I woiuld be
grateful if anyone could suggest a cure for that. I have a current bios, and
have uninstalled realplayer to make sure that isn't a problem. i have also
uninstalled and reinstalled drivers for the realtek hd audio, so htat should
be good. could hte speakers cause a hardware interupt?
thanks for any suggestions

go to start meny - controlpanel - if u dont have it already on - change to
show icons - go to "sound effect manager" - there you see your
"bathroomsound" and u can change as u like....good luck/G
