Can 2 XP Pro program administrators have different program configurations?

Posted: 05-21-2004, 02:21 AM
I have been trying to set different program configurations (specifically, for default e-mail programs) for me and for my father. We both have Administrator access - he uses Outlook Express 6, and I use Outlook 2000. When I change the program configuration for my father's account to make OE the default mail/newsgroup handler, then switch over to my account, my program configuration has been changed to that of my father's. Since I want my default to be Outlook 2000, this is a real pain in the posterior

Is there any way for my father and I to have separate program configurations

Thanks in advance for any and all advice.

Hi Leanne,

A workaround is in progress, but natively within XP at this moment, no.

Maybe you can try creating 2 users for yourself and your father, both having
administrator priviledges

Spectra9, that is currently the case - my father and I have separate user accounts, each with Administrator access.

<sigh> I guess I'm going to have to wait until MS includes a feature like this in a service patch

Thanks, everyone.
